Bullitt County Foundation for Excellence in Public Education supports increased technology access and student success for 2nd Grade students at MWES.
Several years ago, BCPS moved to enhance district-wide student learning through the use of Google Classroom and Chromebooks, but annual funding was limited. Our MWES PTA began to raise funds to purchase Chromebooks with the plan to fund intermediate classrooms first and then primary. 2nd grade teachers recognized that Chromebooks would also benefit their students, particularly in the areas of learning interventions and extensions. They immediately began searching for funding partners who might accelerate purchase of Chromebooks and greater access to technology for 2nd grade students.
The Bullitt County Foundation for Excellence in Public Education became our champion partner! Over the past three years, the Foundation’s annual grant funding program has provided $6,000 in Chromebook purchases for 2nd grade students at MWES to support its “Project WIN” (What I Need) Program. Project WIN allows students to access multiple on-line learning intervention and extension programs to support growth in reading, writing, and math.
MWES is grateful for the Foundation’s community partnership and continued support of student success at Mt. Washington Elementary School.
