There is no event better than Kindergarten Kickoff on Tuesday, July 24th at 5:00 p.m. at the Paroquet Springs Conference Centre for incoming pupils and their parents to prepare for that first day of class.
Freedom and Brooks Elementary School Family Resource Center Coordinator Sherri Bishop noted Kindergarten Kickoff is for children who have already enrolled and those who still need to finish their paperwork.
“They can complete their paperwork on site,” she said. “We will have educators and administrators available to help and answer all your questions.”
All 13 Bullitt County elementary schools will have a booth with principals and kindergarten teachers greeting their new students. Most booths usually have a school year theme, an activity and treat.
Bishop said each new student also receives a gift.
“We want them to feel welcome and at ease as they transition to school,” she said.
District officials in departments such as Attendance, Health Services, Infinite Campus/Parent Portal, Food Service, Transportation, etc., will be available to answer questions.
One of the annual highlights is a school bus in front of Paroquet Springs for visitors to board.
“This is the first time on a school bus for a lot of the children,” Bishop said.
The Learning is Fun Resource Bus will also be parked. This vehicle is loaded with free books for kids.
Free dental exams will be conducted by the staff of Maryville Family Dentistry. Staff of the Bullitt County Public Library will be present to sign students up for library cards.
There will also be face painting, door prizes and restaurant mascots handing out coupons and other neat surprises.
“Visitors can expect fun, fun, fun and so much more,” Bishop said.
Admission is free. For additional information, please contact Bishop at 502-869-2012. Here is a list of other Family Resource Coordinators if you have questions:
