It took a PowerPoint presentation reflecting on Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) year for Eastside youth to attain Gold Status.
“The kids are really excited,” said STLP sponsor Sheila Hendricks. “They really worked hard for this.”
Students attended regional competition for the first time and took two projects. One project moved on to the State Competition.
“We competed in the STLP Digital Product Online Judging competition,” Hendricks explained. “One digital product moved on to the State competition and received Honorable Mention - Alex Contreras, Digital Photo for Eve of the Equine.
In addition, Blake Harlamert was awarded Third Place in the Quick Tech Recall at the State Competition.
“Our STLP had to demonstrate achievement of seven or more Level Up badges, which are completed tasks from a list of options from the STLP website,” Hendricks said.
The achievements included:
- All STLP members completed an online digital citizenship course.
- Members completed and competed in a Minecraft project at State.
- Participating in an Hour of Code and offering this experience to 35 other students through student-led enrichment.
- Demonstrating leadership by training peers.
According to district Technology Integration Specialist Keith Barnes, Eastside joins Bernheim Middle and Roby Elementary who retained Gold Status for this year.
